Update, 29 July 2026: we checked flight-booking apps directly, and Bandung's Husein Sastranegara Airport (BDO) already has a bookable route showing — earlier than the general "August 2026" reopening target we covered in our previous Husein Sastranegara update.
The confirmed route
Searching Bandung (BDO) to Bali (DPS) on a major Indonesian OTA returned a live, bookable result:
- Route: Bandung (BDO) → Denpasar, Bali (DPS)
- Airline: Garuda Indonesia
- Type: Direct flight, 1h 45m
- Earliest date found: Saturday, 15 August 2026
- Fare shown: around Rp1,738,060 (economy, one-way, with 20kg checked baggage), with nearby dates priced similarly (Rp1.7-1.8 million range)
This is a real, priced, bookable listing — not a government announcement or a "target date." It's a stronger signal than the reopening plans we wrote about earlier, since airlines only load routes into booking systems once they're confident about operating them.
What this doesn't mean yet
A word of caution before you assume Husein Sastranegara is fully back to normal:
- This is one confirmed route so far (Bandung-Bali, Garuda Indonesia). It doesn't mean every route or airline that used to fly from BDO is back yet.
- Availability can still change. Airlines occasionally adjust or cancel routes before the operating date, especially this early. Check current availability before finalizing your own travel plans.
- Ground infrastructure and other airlines may lag behind ticket sales. A bookable fare confirms the airline's operational readiness for that route — it doesn't automatically confirm every other route is equally ready.

If Bandung-Bali is your route, this is good news: a direct 1h45m flight from Bandung itself beats the alternative of transferring through Jakarta or Kertajati first. For other routes, keep checking — we'll update this as more routes appear.
Either way, once you land at Husein Sastranegara, it's a short trip into central Bandung — about 5 km, normally 15-30 minutes by car, far shorter than the transfer from Soekarno-Hatta or Kertajati. See our Bandung airport transfer service for a private, driver-included pickup, or message us on WhatsApp once your flight is confirmed.
Frequently asked questions
Is Husein Sastranegara Airport open now? At least one route (Bandung-Bali on Garuda Indonesia) is bookable from 15 August 2026 onward. That's a strong signal of readiness, but it's not yet confirmation that the airport is handling a full schedule of routes.
Should I book a flight through Husein Sastranegara instead of Soekarno-Hatta? Only if your specific route is already showing as bookable — check directly before assuming availability. For most routes today, flying via Soekarno-Hatta (Jakarta) and continuing to Bandung by car or Whoosh train remains the more reliable option.
Will you update this article as more routes open? Yes — we check booking availability periodically and will update both this article and our main Husein Sastranegara reopening guide as the picture becomes clearer.
